How many nappies do I need?
It does depend on the nappy system you use. You will generally get through 8-10 nappies per day for a newborn baby and around 5-6 nappies for a weaned baby who is sleeping through the night.
For two piece nappies - the nappy is changed at each nappy change - but unless soiled or excessively wet the wrap can be reused. A good guide is:
- 24 nappies & 4-6 outer wraps for a newborn baby - washing every other day - 16 nappies & 2-3 outer wraps for a newborn baby - washing every day
- 15 nappies & 2-3 outer wraps for a weaned baby - washing every other day - 10 nappies & 1-2 outer wraps for a weaned baby - washing every day
For pocket nappies or all in ones you will need to change the whole nappy at each change. The recommendation is:
- 24 nappies for a newborn baby - washing every other day - 16 nappies for a newborn baby - washing every day
- 15 nappies for a weaned baby - washing every other day - 10 nappies for a weaned baby - washing every day
