Confused about cloth nappies????

So much choice!

The range and choice of cloth nappies can be quite overwhelming! From terry squares to all in ones, shaped nappies to pockets with sized and birth to potty there are so many options. With many different brands and many different fabrics to chose from it is not a straightforward decision to make. In addition a nappy system that suits one set of parents may not be appropriate for another.

The Nappy Choice section aims to help you choose the best type of nappy or nappies for your family.
The Green Jelly - Recommendations section shows our favourite nappies for each situation. It aims to help you further though the maze and to give you some ideas to try
Are they for me???

Of course they are!! But then we would say that though wouldn't we??? But seriously, having looked at the various options with respect to their particular situation, the majority of parents can start using cloth nappies very easily.

You may think as new (or existing) parents that you have so much to consider that the type of nappy you will use is one decision too far. Disposables are an easy option and whist fine for some parents & carers can be too expensive, have too high an impact on the environment, give health concerns, are too smelly, or are just too boring(!) for others.

Cloth nappies can save you money, reduce your carbon footprint, reduce your use of chemicals (especially against your baby's skin) and come in both muted and very funky designs!

Hard Work?

Some parents and carers (usually those who have not tried them!) consider cloth nappies to be too much effort. Reusable nappies are in reality not as much work as you may think. Modern washing machines are very efficient and you can tumble dry most of them which takes the effort away. See the Are cloth nappies hard work? section for more details.
Poo?

One question I am regularly asked is 'what about the poo!'?

Unsurprisingly(!) the And what about the poo? section answers this question. In short - put the poo down the loo, rinse if necessary and add the nappy to the wash.
Looking after nappies

The Caring for your nappies section has details of how to look after your nappies & wraps. Storing & washing is straightfoward and much easier than you may think.
How to use real nappies

The Nappy usage tips section has general information regarding cloth nappies including frequency of changing, using liners and preventing leaks.
Nappy Rash

Nappy Rash is no more common in cloth nappies than disposables. The Nappy rash section aims to help should you encounter redness or nappy rash.
